![]() ![]() I highly recommend using Ironwail instead as the best all-around port. Even then the quality of online play is pretty trash compared to other multiplayer port alternatives anyway. You only really lose out on achievements and crossplay by not using it. The models can be ripped out, converted if necessary, and used in any other sourceport of your choice. It is far more limited in options customization. And anything more specialized like Quake 1.5, Nehahra or Slayers Testaments is going to outright require a different port instead. It can run most mods but does run into problems with specific mods and maps.I still get occasional stutters even on my high end machine. The optimization is notably worse than other sourceports.Maybe related to the above point, but when I hop between ironwail and Kexquake I can feel the difference immediately. The movement feels off, and I've not discovered anything that makes it feel right.I swear it doesn't use raw input for aim.The issues I have with the re-release (Kexquake): ![]() Many of the problems won't even be noticed by the more casual first time player.īut it is completely outdone by most community sourceports. ![]() Truth be told it's a perfectly adequate way to play the game if you just want to play hassle free out of the box and don't mind a few inconsistencies or somewhat limited mod compatiblity. I disagree vehemently with the idea that the re-release is the 'definitive way'. ![]()
